Bacon Bunnies

Here’s a yummy snack that’s easy to make Ingredients: 2 bacon slices, Hamburger bun, split and buttered, 1 slice of cheddar cheese, and 1 slice of mozzarella cheese Here’s what you do:

  1. Get permission or help from an adult before you start.
  2. Fry the bacon in a frying pan on medium-low heat. Once cooked, cut it into small pieces and drain it on a paper towel. (You can also cook bacon in the microwave – ask an adult how).
  3. Lay a slice of cheese on each half of the bun. Sprinkle each slice with the cooked bacon.
  4. Put the bun halves on a cookie sheet on the top rack of the oven (or on the small broiler pan of your toaster oven). Broil for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts. Watch carefully to make sure it doesn’t burn!
  5. Use oven mitts to remove the pan to a cooling rack.
  6. Pour yourself a glass of cold milk, and enjoy!

Amaze your friends!

Here’s an eggstordinary trick that will give you the magic touch.

Can you tell the difference between an uncooked and a hard-cooked egg – without cracking them open? With this magic trick, you can.

  1. Hard-boil an egg (be sure to get an adult’s permission before you start) by placing it in a small pot and covering it with cold water to about an inch above the egg. Cover the pot with a lid, and heat until the water boils. (Remember to place the handle away from you when the heat is on.) Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then, rinse the egg under cold water right away. Now, you’re ready to fool your friends.
  2. Hold the hard-cooked egg in one hand and an uncooked egg in the other. Pretend to “feel” the eggs.
  3. Next, spin both eggs on a tabletop using a flick of fingers. The egg that spins the best is the hard-cooked one. The secret? The yolk and white in an uncooked egg will slosh around and make the egg wobble instead of spin. A hardcooked egg always spins smoothly.
  4. Gobble up your hard-boiled egg!
