Growing Alberta

Off To Market

This summer visit one of Alberta’s many farmer’s market to experience some of the freshest and innovative food products Alberta has to offer.  For those new to the farmer’s market experience, here are some tips to consider when visiting a farmer’s market:

  1. Bring actual money.  Most markets do not have ABM’s and vendors generally do not take cheques or credit cards. Some of the larger indoor markets may have cash machines on site, but it’s always best to have cash on hand.
  2. Take a shopping basket or large canvass bags.
  3. Get there early if you want the freshest produce and baked goods.
  4. Bring a cooler.  If you plan on buying fresh items, put a cooler with ice in your car to keep your fresh pick fresh and safe.
  5. Have fun.  There is just so much selection, having fun is guaranteed.
