Letters from our readersBe gentle on the environmentI would like to see you switch to using recycled paper. Please forward this “letter” to the right desk. Thank you. Mrs. M. Stevens I read your magazine with much interest. Thank you for terrific information and timeliness on the topics. Keep up the good work. One suggestion – your beautiful eye-catching glossy cover is too costly on the environment for a magazine dedicated to “growing” to continue using. Please consider making a safer, more friendly type of cover for this worthwhile magazine. D. Wallace Publisher’s note: Over the last few issues, we’ve had tremendous feedback from readers like you. Your comments help us push the bar on every issue and we thank you. Many of you have challenged us to find more eco-friendly ways of publishing Food for Thought. We’re listening. We have used canola-based ink in past issues and we will continue to do so, but this time we’re also printing on recycled stock. You might also notice the cover is a little less glossy. That’s because this time around we’re using a water-soluble varnish to protect the cover instead of UV coating. Where’s the cheese? Is cheese made in Alberta? Ms. C. Meloney Publisher’s note: Yes it certainly is. For more information on cheese manufacturers in Alberta, contact Alberta Milk at 1-800-252-7530 or visit www.albertamilk.com It’s the berriesAny information about Alberta-grown berries would be useful. A. Letki Great magazine – perhaps you could have an issue on what fruits and vegetables grow well in Alberta. I know there are new varieties and I trust you more than books. Ms. D. Martin Publisher’s note: Check out the stories in this issue and visit www.albertafruit.com You read our mindI’d like more about how people’s eating habits today are changing their lives. Ms. S. Cissell I’d like to see more info on new trends in nutrition and healthy eating. Ms. L. Thiering Your topics are already great and presentation is excellent. As a celiac and diabetic may I suggest you consider adding gluten-free or similar coverage. We are avid label readers and proponents of wholesome, good eating habits. J. & M. Guinan Publisher’s note: Keep reading! This issue is all about nutrition, eating well and living well. We have featured a story on gluten-free products in our Spring 2001 issue titled “Healthy eating for tender tummies.” You can access this story and more at www.growingalberta.com. What’s on your mind? We’d like to know what you think. Drop us a line, or send an email and give us your thoughts about articles you’ve read, or issues you’d like to see in the future.
