Fill up that cookie jar PeterPeter’s Great Grandmother’s Scottish Oat CakesPeter Brayne, Production Manager Peter's Great Grandmother made these Oat Cakes and the recipe is still in his family. Peter is very proud of his great grandmother because she was the first woman in Scotland to have a driver's license. 1/2 cup boiling water 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups bran flakes 2 cups rolled oats 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 1/4 cups shortening Add soda to boiling water and let stand until cool. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, bran flakes, rolled oats and sugar. Cut in shortening; add water and soda. Roll out thin on a floured board. Cut into shapes. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
